Pop-up: Carnival Cowboys
Welcome to our Pop Up Gallery. Here we curate artifacts and oddities in the Project B vintage photography collection. Featured now is: Pop-up: Carnival Cowboys
In the 1920s and ‘30s, Americans flocked to the county fair for weekend fun, including the chance to dress up as frontiersmen and cowpunchers in a Wild West setting. The photo studios and booths had elaborate sets complete with hand painted backdrops. Every moviegoer knew a classic pose, could stage a showdown for the camera and become an instant carnival cowboy (or cowgirl!).
